Cees Roem is married, has two children and lives in Bergen, North Holland.

After his MTB cycling tour in Tanzania for AMREF Flying Doctors he decided to move another path and started his own consultancy firm: Bureau Roem, Organisatie en Managementadvies.

Besides cycling Cees Roem is an enthusiastic hiker and can frequently be seen in the dunes and forest in the surrounding of Bergen nh and Schoorl. In July 2023 he took part at and completed the Nijmegen 4 Days March (160 km).
Furthermore he is attending singing classes and performed the St. Matthew Passion (Matthäus Passion - J. S. Bach) in March 2023 in Austria. In 2024 he has performed Bach’s masterpiece again in Amsterdam and later on that year he attended a performance of one of Anton Bruckners masses in the Stephans Cathedrale in Vienna (Austria).
For his services to society in general Cees Roem was appointed to HM The King in the Order of Orange-Nassau

CEES ROEM HAS SEVERAL EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, HE IS:
- a member of the non executive board of one primary school and used to be
- member of the cooperative council of Rabobank Alkmaar
- chairman of National Wildlife Park South Kennemerland

- Team manager Urban Living at the City of The Hague. Responsible for management in general (30+ employees) and policy matters in regard to urban living, homecare and permits. As part of the Management Team responsible for the organizational development of the Department of Urban Living.

- Strategic Visioning Workshop ™ for the urban landscape council Spaarnwoude and the City of Amsterdam on cooperation and urban development issues
